Sustainable Packaging

We care about Sustainability and are committed to leaving this world a better place. We offer the following sustainable packaging options:

sustainable packaging

Using paper from responsibly managed sources

We are amongst the early batch of packaging printers to be certified FSC chain of custody. For a product to earn the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, the product must have been sourced from responsibly managed forests and/or been made from post-consumer waste. The FSC chain of custody (CoC) is the product’s path from the forest, or, if the material is recycled, from the moment the material is reclaimed, to when the product is sold or finished with a FSC label. Sourcing, processing, trading, and distribution are all a part of the CoC.

Lighter paper board to reduce weight

With our direct to paper mill relationship, we are able to offer lighter weight paper board to reduce sustainable packaging materials usage while maintaining the same performance. For example, 255 gsm cardboard can replace regular 300gsm cardboard resulting in >17% material reduction and a 290gsm cardboard can replace a regular 350gsm cardboard resulting in >20% material reduction.

Plastic Free Custom Paper Box Sustainable Packaging

Plastic free surface protection

Plastic lamination has been a popular option for brand owners to add an additional layer of protection for printed paper boxes and labels. Soft touch lamination also offers a luxurious feel to high end paper boxes and labels. But plastic laminated box is harder to recycle, generate ocean waste and cost more. Winson press offers a wide range of varnish that can replace plastic laminations: gloss, matt, soft touch, verified anti-microbial, FDA compliant direct food contact varnish which is oil and water resistance. All our printing machines are equipped with inline varnish capability to offer cost effective varnish options toward sustainability packaging solutions.

Sustainable printing inks that can be de-ink effectively

Deinking is a key process in the paper recycling process. If the ink cannot be separated from the paper at the deinking stage, the paper pulp is considered contaminated and unfit to re-enter the recycling chain. We offer a range of European made inks passed the INGEDE Method 11 test with the maximum score of 100/100 for de-inkability. This means the ink can be effectively removed from paper, making it possible to convert the deinked paper into raw fibres. This raw material in turn can be converted back to graphic paper of new value. This range of inks is low odour and low migration and certified for non-direct food contact food packaging.

Responsible Use of Consumables

We’re committed to the responsible use of consumables throughout every part of our printing process. We utilize alcohol-free offset printing to ensure every product holds up to our values. While our customers don’t ask for this more costly form of printing, we do it any way but never pass these costs off to our customers. Every product is printed using soy-based ink.
